How can we do more?

joffI am honored to be the 2009-2010 President of the Rotary Club of Northern Tarlac. A club chartered in 1978, it is one with wealthy history. How many clubs do you know that still have an active member in its club that was there almost from the chartered date? How many clubs do you know of that not only have the business owners as members but are leaders in the community? How do you evaluate the image of a club who has a District Governor Elect?  Yes, it is a special club and I am privileged to be the President for this Rotary Year.

The induction ceremonies also means that the start of the full steam implementations for this Rotary Year’s project plans is about to commence. District Governor, Oyan, the Club officers and I have been hard at work to make this Rotary year a fruitful one! But we need your help. Our club projects requires all of us to volunteer our time in planning and implementation. So, please, when volunteers are requested, donate your time in helping out when needed.  We will truly be in high spirits when we are able to help many people that are in need.

Rotary President John Kenny has said: "The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands." When he makes this statement he is not speaking to others, he is speaking to us. Not Rotarians in another club, community or district, us!  He is challenging us to do more!!!

How can we do more? The key and what I would like to focus on for my year as President, RY 2009-2010, is membership. Why membership?  Because you my fellow members are the most important part of the club.  Membership retention and recruitment is where it all starts.  And by increasing membership we have more hands and more funds to share the load, more ideas, more creativity and more successes.  By inviting like minded people to join us as Rotarians we can and will do more!

If we double the size of our club this year and next year with people who care, as we do, we double or more our successes and we also double the people who are given positive outlook in life because of the service Rotary has rendered to them.

Therefore, if I ask my fellow RCTians, Can we do it? I say we can! It starts with us extending our hands, inviting caring business people, people we come in contact with everyday. At work, where we shop, where we exercise and play, at church, in our lodges, it can be everywhere!!!  Many will say NO, some will say MAYBE and only a few will say YES, but if we ask enough caring people it can be done! So start extending our hands to serve, invite and unite, today and everyday, because “The Future of Rotary is in our Hands”.
