Rotary New Year, A New Beginning

Time flies so fast..month of July has ended but with the beginning of new set of officers under the leadership of our new President Miguel “Dors” C. Rivilla, emphasized continuity of service above self in his term.  Let us not forget IPP Lolita “Lolit” D. Co for her exemplary contributions and dedication of service for taking our club to the next level. Two thumbs up to both of you.

July 1 is Rotary New Year. This month marks the beginning  of   plans and lay-out of the Club Goals, Plans and Programs for the whole Rotary Year.  One of which is the regular issue of the Club Bulletin. Aside from dues and PRM subscriptions, we have also the RCNTian website with its regular updates and maintenance. Designed and developed by yours truly.

July set our first joint project with the Local Government Unit of Paniqui – RHU I with its whole day seminar on MNCHN/TB  on Barangay Chairman and Kagawads. Our first regular meeting dated July 7 made an excellent attendance and Pres. Dors “super surprised” first raffle draw grand prize winner of dual sim cellphone  was none other than Rtn. Tony Paragas.  The concept and idea of starting within ourselves and in our very own homes with our own small little ways for the community, our first guest of honor PP Sonny Abellar   talked about the goodness of home-based solid waste management and tackled the many advantages of owning one in the backyard and for helping  out the community to gradually combat the problems of solid waste. With the typhoon signal no. 2  in Tarlac,  our club  never stopped  to hold our 4th regular meeting last July 28, Rtn. Noel L. Linsao, my high school senior class adviser then, presented the New Gen week project and a raffle draw was also made after the meeting and a grand prize of one DVD player for the winner. Rtn. Baby Mendoza, took home the prize.

This month of August, we will celebrate the New Generations Week, the fifth avenues of service which is dedicated to our youth and young adults involved in the leadership development and training and community projects.

As Mohandas Ghandi said, you must be the change you wish to see in the world. In the rotary, in our club, we believe and create a better world through our service and that when we will work together we will achieve our common goals to Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.

LET US make great things one step at a time.

I would like to thank my spouse Mich for letting me become a Rotarian. I would also like to thank PDS/PP Danny T. Rojo for sending his messages on time to my email account and sharing his articles in our club bulletin-SILAWAN. My gratitude to Pres. Dors for believing in me to chair this very challenging task and to all the members for the warm interest of every issue.

May the force always be with us.
